Who Has the Best Wireless Phone Operating System?

Has anyone ever competed with Google and won?

Well `it’s on’ for a lack of a better term.  The competition for the best wireless operating systems (OS) to stay # 1 is slipping away from Apple.  Google is set to become and remain #1 with its Android operating system (OS).  While Apple enjoyed early success with little competition.  Their ease of use and their apps made it easy to overcome Research in Motion (RIM) and the Blackberry OS.

Now trying to pull up from behind is RIM and Blackberry.  They are trying to revive themselves with their new 6 OS, it really isn’t anything special but it isn’t bad either.  It’s simple to use and that is what got them to be the industry leader at one time. So we will have to see where they end up.  They have a loyal customer base. Microsoft and Nokia are not clear what they are going to do.  The Microsoft Windows Mobile OS 7 kind of fizzled.

 Google has had about 2.5 years to get their feet wet and they are not disappointing.  They have been flooded with apps for productivity and multitasking.  They did their home work early and set up an open source platform. This gives developers an open road to develop without the worry of copy write issues.  This let the developers focus on what they do best, develop. And develop they have. Their apps are a huge success.

The Apple iphone got its success by great marketing and strategically limiting its availability and with a huge variety of apps when no one else had them.  However they are going to have to do something more than just develop a new phone every year that does the same thing.  The only unique thing that an Apple iphone can do is its navigation and Apple did protect itself with copyright on this but this is not enough to keep them out in front.

Without hesitation in my opinion, the Android OS is on its way to remain on top for a long time.  The platform is designed for productivity, multitasking, efficiency, usability, easy navigation.  Everything has been taken care of by Google.  And the Android OS is to phones what Google is to other search engines.  The Android OS will totally dominate the PCS market for a long time.

We will have to see what comes from Google in negations with Motorola. This will be interesting to see what they come up with.
